Surveying Firms will have a place
Surveyors UK
- Property/Built Environment
Why The Surveying Room exists (and what’s coming next)
Over the last few weeks, I’ve had a steady stream of messages from surveyors saying similar things.
“It feels different.” “I like being able to dip in and browse.” “It feels like it was built for us.”
That matters to me, because that was the intent.
The Surveying Room isn’t noisy. It isn’t performative. And it isn’t another place asking you to shout to be seen.
It’s a space where surveyors can drop in, see what’s happening across the profession, and engage when it suits them.
Some people post. Many people browse. Both are welcome.
We’ve now passed 700 registrations, and what’s been clear very quickly is the type of people joining. Surveyors who care deeply about their work, who want to do things properly, and who are willing to support others.
Surveyors UK plays a different role that no one else can
We can provide the space, the media, and the communications to facilitate proper discussion and debate without noise or bias. Thoughtful conversations that reflect how surveying actually works. Recently, we had discussions on Retrofit, and we are supporting research for Retrofit case study materials.
As one example, I’m planning a panel discussion that I’ll host on the Home Survey Standard, bringing together different perspectives and lived experience. Not to tell anyone what to think, but to surface insight. More on that soon.
On the practical side, things are moving quickly.
Mentor/shadowing visibility is opening later this month, so people can search for mentors and see who’s open to supporting others. The events directory is growing as we partner with more CPD providers, conference organisers, and training companies. The marketplace is building momentum, and we’ve now started publishing blog pieces too.
The next big step, though, is for surveying firms.
We’re preparing to introduce firm memberships on Surveyors UK.
This will include:
Public facing profiles, job posting, discounts on products and services, business development, growth strategies, CPD and so on.
This isn’t live yet, but interest is already strong.
If you run a surveying firm and want to be on the early waitlist, secure early rates, and stay informed as this rolls out, message me directly or email nina@surveyors-uk.com.
AI, interest has also accelerated.
With the new RICS AI standard coming into force in March, I’m getting regular enquiries from surveyors and firms asking what compliance actually looks like in practice. I’m planning a practical webinar on how to approach this sensibly, without overcomplicating it. If that would be useful for you or your firm, message me and I’ll keep you in the loop.
A final reminder, because it matters.
Surveyors UK is not a professional body. It’s not a trade body.
It’s an independent, unbiased platform designed to bring together careers, firms, services, jobs, events, CPD, and conversation in one place, without agendas. As well as promote surveying as a career and professional service.
If you’re already in The Surveying Room, thank you. You’re shaping it by how you show up. If you’ve been watching from the outside, now’s a good time to join.
No pressure to post. No pressure to perform. Just a space for people who care about surveying, and where things are clearly moving.
